Butterfly Bench Project
As part of Papillion 150, the “Wings Over Papillion” Butterfly Bench Public Art Project is placing uniquely painted butterfly benches throughout Papillion, showcasing work by a variety of artists.
“Wings Over Papillion”
Local Papillion artist Al Rhea designed the unique prototype for the butterfly benches, which were then manufactured by Benson Machine in Omaha. In summer of 2019, area artists were invited to submit their creative mockup designs. Area businesses, organizations and individuals were invited to sponsor a butterfly bench, bringing their chosen design to life in full scale. Some of the benches highlight Papillion’s history and culture while others are simply inspiring works of the artists’ imagination.
All the butterfly benches will be on display from April 12, 2020 (Easter) to September 7, 2020 (Labor Day). Many will become permanent fixtures throughout the community. A map of all bench locations will be available soon!
